The MC403 is armed to thrill

The MC403 is a high specification Motion Co-ordinator using a high performance ARM11 processor that provides up to 2 axes of servo plus a master encoder axis or up to 3 axes of stepper control. The MC403 features a total of 8 axes in software where any axes not assigned to built-in hardware can be used as a virtual axis.

All three encoder ports can be either incremental or one of three popular absolute encoder types; SSI, Tamagawa or EnDat, additionally the third axis can be used as a stepper, reference encoder input or a sync encoder output. The built-in Ethernet port allows programming and connection of common HMI and PLC protocols directly to the MC403. User programs can be written in Trio’s established multi-tasking TrioBASIC language using the powerful Motion Perfect application development software thus making complex motion easy. Every axis can be programmed to move using linear, circular or helical or spherical interpolation, electronic cams, linked axes and gearboxes.

There is also available an option on the MC403 to use the industry standard IEC 61131-3 runtime is an easy to use fully functional PLC programming system. Two LED’s enable the controller status to be easily determined, whilst the single piece metal cast back-plate provides an integrated earth chassis to improve noise rejection in the industrial environment.

Parker Trilogy I-FORCE Ironless Motor Positioners cover a wide range

Parker Trilogy’s ironless linear motors offer high forces and rapid accelerations in a compact package. With forces ranging from 5.5lbf (878.6N) continuous up to 5.5lbf ((24.5N) and up to 883lbf (3928N) peak, the I-Force family offers a superior combination of performance and size.

The I-Force (patented RE34674) ‘I-beam’ shape with its overlapping windings allows for a higher power density in a smaller motor, improved heat removal and added structural stiffness. In addition, the ironless (or air core) linear motor design has no attractive force toward the magnets, which provides for easy installation and zero cogging during motion. Ultra high-flex cables come as standard with I-Force motors and on offer are modular magnet tracks for unrestricted travel length.

There are six different product series with configurable options for a ‘best fit’ linear motor solution. The standard travel lengths are up to 3 metres, which can be easily customised. Acceleration is up to 6g’s, speeds to 5 m/s and an internal thermal cutout switch protection and either magnetic coil or optical encoder options with resolutions to 0.1 micron.

 There are single or dual bearing rail positioners to match the performance and cost requirement of users but with precision ground aluminium or steel base for high accuracy as well as maximum life, load and speed. Also included are over travel limits, home sensor and an integral high flex cable. Cable track options accommodate customer payload tubes and cables along with motor and encoder cables. The I-FORCE has multi-axis configurations available and if required there are dual rail positioners, which have bellows as a standard option.

The motors used are of three types, first the ironless motor for ultra high performance and zero cogging. Next the ironcore motor for highest power to package size, and thirdly the slotless motor which has good linear force and smooth translation, at a low cost.
