Kollmorgen Newsletter

Micromech is pleased to send you the latest newsletter from Kollmorgen the global, major motion and control company

Product Launch 2012

In addition to re-launching its motion-control technology skills, Kollmorgen is introducing a whole range of new solutions including the new AKD™ PDMM (Programmable Drive Multi-Axis Master), a servo amplifier with integrated, high-performance PLC and motion-control functionality. Also on offer is the new KBM™ series of frameless, brushless torque motors for demanding high-performance applications in a confined space, and the AKM1 matchbox-sized synchronous servomotor with standstill brake and absolute encoder. Each solution helps machine engineers and users achieve significant productivity and availability improvements, with reduced material and maintenance costs and energy consumption, all of which provide important competitive benefits.

IPC Performance in the Drive: Entirely New Possibilities in Terms of Design and Performance

Giving the performance of an IPC but for the price of a compact drive control?
With its totally flexible AKD® PDMM series, Kollmorgen is showing that this balancing act really can be achieved. Featuring powerful integrated controllers equipped with Kollmorgen Automation Suite™ software, the drives boast full PLC and motion functionality for single and multiple synchronised servo amplifiers. They provide machine designers with a means of controlling eight or more axes without having to rely on a PLC or an additional motion controller. The advantages speak for themselves. Machines can be built more quickly and easily, and machine output increases while costs are reduced. Machine designers have more design and build options, save space in the control cabinet and reduce wiring costs. They can thus enjoy a shared development environment for their different applications, and benefit from the compatibility and flexibility of Kollmorgen Automation Suite.

The Most Versatile Synchronous Servomotor in its Performance Class

The smallest synchronous servomotor from Kollmorgen is now even more flexible: The build series AKM1 is now available with a range of options such as holding brake, various feedback systems including multi-turn absolute encoders with Hiperface® interface as well as ytec® plug-in connectors. Machine builders now have at their disposal an extremely compact and integrated solution for sophisticated movement tasks like vertical axes, positioning and also lightweight and space-saving drives. High degree of efficiency, up to 8000 revs per minute and high dynamics further serve as compelling performance data for this compact power pack.
