Micromech is pleased to report the announcement by Yaskawa they have extended the warranty for YASKAWA A1000 drive

Yaskawa A1000To underline YASKAWA’s reputation as global leader in quality and reliability, Yaskawa Europe has extended the A1000 product range warranty to an amazing 60 months at no additional charge.

The new warranty is valid for all A1000 products and related option cards shipped from 1st May 2013 to the Yaskawa channel partners.

The liability under this 5 year warranty is limited to repair or replace defective products, which failed due to poor workmanship in design, or manufacturing or defects in parts used.

The warranty of course has the normal restrictions such as damage or unauthorised modification or repair, improper application, installation or operation.

Micro Package has Big Performance

Micromech is pleased to introduce the new Kollmorgen P5000 stepper drive which is a compact micro-stepping drive optimised for high system performance particularly when used with the industry’s leading POWERMAX II stepper motors. It is frankly an impressive yet simple addition to the Kollmorgen stepper drive family.

Optimised to be smooth, to be compact, and furthermore to be paired in a stepper system that doesn’t get any easier! The P5000 and Kollmorgen stepper motors are just meant to be together. With easy access smoothing and profile potentiometers, achieving an optimised performance is so simple!

The many features of this drive includes a current output from 0.7-3.5A peak that is DIP switch selectable in 0.2 Amp increments, Bus Voltage 20-75 Vdc and wave matching via potentiometers for Kollmorgen motors to provide optimal performance.  All the inputs and outputs are similarly optically isolated, the command source from external step/direction inputs or internal velocity controlled oscillator (VCO) is again DIP switch selectable. The external single-ended step and direction command is disable input and fault or enable output, and the VCO Mode allows for velocity control via two separate potentiometers for CW and CCW rotation and a third potentiometer for acceleration. The P5000 has a pulse multiplier for smoothing micro-stepping, idle current reduction, both DIP switch selectable and compensation for mid-range instability.

Closed loop control drive has the advantages of servomotors and steppers

The SERS and WSERS drives from Stogra can by using closed loop control of the stepper motor, always be operated at maximum torque with the result of high dynamic performance and maximum motor acceleration

Closed LoopThis gives high response in case of short positioning movements, no hunting at ‘stand still’, no gain tuning is necessary and having the small load angle, has an advantages over servomotors. This means the motor does not loose its synchronism and therefore no more loosing steps! Furthermore when sizing a stepper motor system the usual torque safety calculated can be reduced or maybe even skipped, and therefore for many applications a smaller motor can be selected. The SERS are rack mountable drives with control board and encoder interface option and the WSERS is a packaged drive, both for use with 2-phase stepping motors.

When comparing the stepper motor in open loop with closed loop control as long as the load angle is less than 1.8°, the stepper motor can be operated in open loop mode. If however the load angle is greater than 1.8° the motor would loose its position in open loop mode. Closed loop mode will automatically prevent this loss of steps.

The communication with the position control is via a serial interface RS232C, RS485, Profibus-DP, PROFIdrive and CANopen (DSP 402) are all supported. The SERS drives guarantees optimal, vibration free, true running motion due to its micro-stepping operation with 12800 steps/rev and the ability to select different phase current characteristics to match the characteristics of the motor type. The rough step by step performance of conventional stepper drives at low speed ranges has been greatly improved with the SERS resulting in very smooth running easily comparable with servo motors. In the standard versions they can be operated in four different modes, serial, stand-alone, parallel and master/slave operation.

Using the SERS the stepper motor follows its position command values immediately, but a servomotor can only start and stop with a delay/settling time due to its inherent operation that needs to continuously monitor position error. When at motor ‘stand-still’ the stepper motor is completely stationary while a servomotor is slightly moving forwards an backwards around its stand still position, known as hunting.

The PD-1021 is a 28mm NEMA 11 stepper motor with 24V controller/driver 0.06 to 0.12Nm with sensOstep™encoder and serial interface

The PD28-1021 is a very compact and very efficient mechatronic solution that includes a 28mm flange motor, a controller/driver board and a sensOstep™ encoder. It can be controlled via serial RS485 interface or operated in standalone mode. The power supply, interface, multipurpose inputs and outputs can be connected with just one JST connector.

With the advanced stallGuard2™ feature the motor load can be detected with high resolution. The new outstanding coolStep™ technology gives sensorless load dependent current control which allows energy efficient motor operation. The PC based software development environment TMCL-IDE uses the Trinamic Motion Control Language TMCL™ that can be down-loaded free of charge from the TRINAMIC website. Pre-defined high level TMCL commands guarantees rapid development of motion control applications. The interfaces include RS485, step/direction and general purpose I/O’s.

The other principal features of the PD-1021 include microPlyer™ 16 to 256 times microstepping interpolation, integrated absolute sensOstep™ encoder with 1024 pps and automatic ramp generation in hardware for ‘on the fly’ alteration of motion parameters.
