The Stealth Gearheads incorporate design enhancements to provide superior performance for the most demanding high performance applications. Utilising ‘dual angular contact bearings’ the gearboxes provide higher radial load capacities while still maintaining high input speeds.

New energy saving modules KCM from Kollmorgen support the DC-link

Using regenerative braking to save energy and bridge power interruptions: two new intelligent Kollmorgen devices improve performance in multi-axis systems. The KCM-P is an active support module for DC intermediate circuits.

With no complex installation required, the KCM-P stores kinetic braking energy using a novel robust capacitor technology to act directly on the intermediate circuit as a UPS for short-term power interruptions, keeping the DC-link voltage intact. As a dynamic energy storage module for regenerative braking, the KCM-S is easily installed when compared to complex energy storing solutions. The energy stored in the capacitor module during regenerative braking is made available for the next acceleration cycle. With storage and recovery made directly to the DC bus, there is no interfering harmonics when power is required. A third option, the KCM-E, combines the benefits of both regenerative energy modules.

KCM modules (capacitor modules) absorb kinetic energy generated by the motor when it is operating in generator mode. Normally, this energy is dissipated as waste via brake resistors. These modules however, feed the energy they have stored back into the intermediate circuit as and when it is required. The modules are available in 3 different versions.

KCM-S saves energy: The energy stored in the capacitor module during regenerative braking is available the next time acceleration happens. The module’s inception voltage is calculated automatically during the first load cycles.

KCM-P power in spite of power failure: If the power supply fails, the module provides the servo amplifier with the stored energy that is required to bring the drive to a standstill in a controlled manner (this only applies to the power supply voltage; battery-back up, the 24V supply separately).

Packaged ‘mains ready’ power amplifiers with step/direction command

The WSE 04.230 AC V01 and WSE 06.230 AC V01 amplifiers from Stogra have the maximum power in the smallest housing. They are packaged in a compact metal housing for mounting in control cabinets, as a DIN rail mounted unit or panel mounted. These amazing bi-polar 2-phase stepper motor controls are ready for connection directly to the mains 230VAC/50Hz

Incorporating the very latest FET-technologies in the power amplifier, there are extremely low power dissipation problems and therefore no forced cooling is necessary. Being connected direct to on line means an isolated transformer is not required, making this a most cost-effective system.Power Amplifier

Due to the new internal winding design suitable for 325VDC operation the optimal performance is achieved with the STÖGRA motor series SM 87, SM 88 and SM 107. This results in the motor power at 2A and 325VDC being comparable with 8A/80VDC of a standard DC-supplied motor/amplifier system. Then at 4A/325VDC it compares to 12A/110VDC and at 6A/325VDC compares to 12A/160 VDC of a standard system.

Motor resolutions are selectable from 200 to 12,800 steps/revolution via a DIPswitch. The phase current for the WSE 04.230 VO1 is adjustable via another DIPswitch from 0 to 4A/phase and the WSE 06.230AC V01 version from 0 to 6A/phase.

Connections are easy via screw terminals fitted to the front panel. The amplifiers include electronic protection against motor and power amplifier short circuits, power amplifier over temperature and under voltage. The output ‘ready’ signal is set via a relay and all input signals (pulse, direction, reset, boost, disable, switch step angle) are optionally opto-coupled isolated.

Because of the internal motor voltage of 325VDC all stepper motors operated with WSE xx.230AC V01 power amplifiers must have sufficient insulation strength (motor winding insulation test voltage 2000VAC for 1sec, according to VDE0530-1). The STÖGRA stepper motor series SM 87, SM 88 and SM 107 have the suitable insulation strength.
