This useful motion adapter is designed for simple handling and positioning applications especially for smaller such applications. The adapter provides an efficient and cost-effective alternative to designing complex controllers for simplicity in programming and commissioning.

The MA100 provides easy programming at a very attractive price-performance ratio. In particular no advanced programming skills are required hence it is also suitable for a systems or machine providers of handling and positioning solutions, where there customer does not employ their own electrical specialists.
The MA100 features a maximum number of connected stations (M-II) is 8 stations, comprising 4 controlled axes and up to 4 I/O stations, the communication interface is Ethernet with the communication between controller and servopack being MECHATROLINK II (10 Mbps). The motion adapter is compatible with rotary motors, linear motors, direct drives and of course the Yaskawa Sigma-5 series servomotors.

The AKD-N is a De-centralised, Slim Line Servo Drive

The Kollmorgen de-centralised drive system consists of a central power supply and robust IP67 rated servo drives which are placed near to the motor. The system offers everything that is needed for the next generation of machine design and does away with anything that obstructs ease of use.

Kollmorgen AKD-NThe power supply, as well as safety features and fieldbus communication, is all combined in one single hybrid cable of only 11mm diameter. With regard to motor connections there is also only one cable needed for power, brake control and feedback. This straightforward approach results in massive cable economies in the machine of more than 80 percent!

The AKD-N is the new distributed servo drive generation from Kollmorgen which comprises of robust IP67-rated controllers which are positioned in close proximity to the motor and supplied by a central power module located in the switchgear cabinet. The 11mm diameter hybrid cable perfectly delivers the power as well as the fieldbus communication to the AKD-N. The controllers can therefore be operated directly in series via DC bus connection without an additional supply, covering power ratings of up to 4 kW. Safe Torque Off is integrated into the range as standard and can be deactivated on an individual or collective basis.

Outside the cabinet and hygienically packaged directly on the machine, the distributed AKD-N servo drives significantly reduce cabinet volumes and cable use. The improved thermal properties of the controllers positioned in parallel but physically separate, prevents the need for de-rating and in contrast to directly combined solutions they therefore offer 100% power. Furthermore, because integrated combinations types are predominantly focused on the motor and this actually restricts the optimum design of an application especially as these units are less flexible in terms of installation as a result of design features. Therefore as the AKD-N is able to connect to rotary servomotors as well as direct drive linear and rotary types, there is maximum scope for design where performance and power are concerned. Indeed the currently distributed servo technology can be combined with the centralised format as easily. Tertiary EtherCAT output and local STO are available as options

The advantages of reduced cabling with a high degree of flexibility through employment of a single standard cable for power and control across all feedback devices, means overall decreased hardware costs as well as greater cleaning permissability for machines. Trio Motion MC4NThe EtherCAT dedicated controller can handle up to 32 axes of servo or stepper drives and 1024 machine I/O points.  The MC4N-ECAT’s built-in expandable library of the market leading EtherCAT digital drives and I/O modules also available from Micromech, allow systems to be automatically detected and configured in a plug and play way that is not usually available for this open and increasingly popular protocol.

Featuring an updated configuration of the 532MHz ARM 11 processor, the ultra-fast MC4N-ECAT includes 64-bit integer position registers for extremely high resolution and precision accuracy – making it ideal for high axis count tightly co-ordinated machines or robotic applications.

Like all Trio Motion Coordinators, the new MC4N-ECAT supports multi-axis motion control through linear, circular, helical or spherical interpolation in addition to electronic cams, linked axes, line shaft, gearing functions and more.  EtherCAT slave drives and I/O can be connected and run in cyclic synchronous position, speed or torque modes provided these are supported by the drive. Furthermore, optional software modules allow the powerful motion engine to control multiple robotic and kinematic transformations to run simultaneously, enabling the simplified programming of otherwise complex robotic motion systems including Parallel 2-Arm, Delta 3-Arm, Wire Positioning, 6 Axis Anthropomorphic and SCARA geometries.

Programming the MC4N-ECAT is straightforward and in essence identical to using traditional analogue axes with the additional benefits of being able to set up drives and process alarms over the EtherCAT bus.  The built-in Ethernet port allows programming and connection of common PLC and HMI protocols, including the new Trio Uniplay HMI, directly to the MC4N-ECAT.  Programs can be written in Trio’s multi-tasking TrioBASIC language using the powerful Motion Perfect v3 application development software, or users may choose the optional industry standard IEC 61131-3 languages to allow a fully functional PLC programming system.  With everything programmed from one place, machine control has never been so simple.

The MC4N-ECAT is available for 2, 4, 8, 16 and 32 motor axes.  All versions feature 32 software axes which may be used as virtual axes to simplify machine programming and synchronisation.   The controller has a built-in “Flexible Axis Port” for direct connection of absolute or incremental encoders, stepper motors and laser controls; also built-in is a CAN port, RS232, RS485 and 16 channels of 24v I/O.

In addition to the EtherCAT bus the MC4N-ECAT has a factory communication Ethernet port with built-in support for Ethernet-IP, Modbus TCP, Trio Active-X, UDP and TCP-IP.  A full size SD card slot provides a high capacity storage location for machine data and auxiliary files whilst an easy to read backlit display gives information about the I/O status, IP address and EtherCAT bus status.

The MC4N-ECAT has been designed to be mounted alongside compact EtherCAT servo drives.  The case features a cast metal backplate for effective earthing and to ensure high noise rejection in the industrial environment.

ETH electro-cylinder force sensors from Parker measure contact forces or overloads.

The force sensors option from Parker is a joint head with integrated force sensor an important component with respect to rotary, pivoting and tilting movements. Force measurements are more and more frequently required in those applications.

The force transducers are suitable for direct mounting on the cylinder rod. They can for example, be used to measure contact forces or overloads. Thanks to the thin film technology the swivel head force transducers are very robust and have long term stability. An integrated amplifier emits an output signal of 4 to 20 mA. The sensors conform to the EN 61326 standard for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and are sized to pick up traction/thrust forces.

Rear Clevis with Force Sensor In some force measurement applications, a force sensor on the cylinder rod is not possible or will affect the application’s scope. For these applications Parker has developed a special variant of the ETH cylinder so that the force sensor is integrated into the rear end of the cylinder. The advantage of this design is that the sensor cable does not move with the rod. All force sensors are configured as traction/thrust sensors. Analogue standard output signals 4 to20 mA are available. The sensors conform to the EN 61326 standard for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
