TRINAMIC Easy-to-Use, Fully Customisable Embedded Driver for NEMA 17 Stepper Motors, the new TMCM-1043

Exciting New Product Available from Micromech!

TRINAMIC Motion Control, have released a smart, energy and cost efficient embedded driver designed for direct mounting on NEMA 17 stepper motors.

Trinamic TMCM – 1043

Trinamic TMCM-1043Pre-programmed and pre-configured with all operating parameters to support standard 1.1A (rms) motors, is intended for rapid design-in and off-the-shelf use without any additional programming necessary.

With its optional programming kit, the TMCM-1043 becomes a versatile fully customisable smart driver suitable for a broad range of embedded motion control and mechatronic applications. In addition to a desktop programming kit with an intuitive GUI for evaluation and parameter selection, a volume programmer for quick parameterisation of production scale quantities will be available.

The TMCM-1043 incorporates the TMC2660, TRINAMIC’s latest stepper motor driver IC, which integrates power MOSFETS with the industry’s lowest RDS(on) specification, resulting in minimal power dissipation. The PCB also integrates all required protection circuitry and interface hardware into a compact and robust assembly. The TMCM-1043 is pulse controlled for 16 microsteps per fullstep. TRINAMIC’s patented proprietary interpolation processor interpolates these steps to a resolution of 256 microsteps per fullstep, providing smooth and exceptionally quiet operation.

TMCM-1043 is currently available from Micromech in production quantities with attractive volume pricing available.

The AKMH servomotors are highly suitable for hygiene or washdown applications

Kollmorgen AKMHThese new high torque density servomotors from Kollmorgen provide the widest range of features and options in the industry. The range enables users to select the right motor for an application, but without the need to over specify or over pay.

The high number of industry regulations place numerous, often very stringent but necessary demands on system manufacturers and machine builders. It is expensive to install an over specified motor especially in a washdown application, and too easy to spend an excessive amount of spending too much time and effort modifying a housing for hygienic applications.

The Kollmorgen solution means engineers can select the exact motor for their application and get the job done properly, achieving optimal results. Whether the motor application is near a wet area or is required to be exposed to high-pressure washdown, the AKMH family of servomotors can provide a correct fit for a specific application.

The AKMH servomotors are built for drive tasks in the packaging, food processing and pharmaceuticals industries. Available in five sizes they are particularly suited for use in areas of the machine liable to direct product contact and where aseptic processes are carried out.

The size-2 AKMH motor is probably one of the world’s smallest stainless steel servomotors and has IP69K (1450 psi washdown) rated maximum environmental protection. The range offers a torque density of less than 20 percent when compared with standard servomotors so avoiding the design limitations of other manufacturers stainless steel motors.

In fact, this minimal torque reduction (de-rating) is so good that a patent has been applied to protect the unique design solution. Furthermore the EHEDG and FDA are to certify the new range.

A further highlight of the AKMH series is its availability with the single-cable option for the Kollmorgen SFD digital resolver or hyperface feedback systems. At just 11mm diameter, the advantage is not only reduced cabling effort but also the need for only half of the normal cabling passing through a machine, plus it has only half as much stress on hygiene.

Other major features of the AKMH motor include: laser annealed name plate which does not harbour pathogens, no flat surfaces for puddling, no other external hardware so very smooth with 316L stainless steel therefore highly corrosion resistant and vented motor options (passive) reducing condensation adding to motor life.

Kollmorgen AKMCustomers can also select from the robust line-up of the exclusive AKM™ washdown food grade models, all with a proven track record for dependable, superior functionality and high-performance.

These synchronous motors are a practical and cost-effective alternative to motors that employ high-grade stainless steel housings. With IP67 rated PTFE sealing, special two-component epoxy coating and stainless steel output shafts they ensure complete resistance to corrosive chemicals including highly alkaline or acidic cleaning products.

The benefits of these industry-leading high performance motors are considerable. First there are certifications ranging from basic IP65 up to IP69K and FDA approval. Secondly there are thousands of model options as standard as well as severe washdown options. Then importantly, availability extends to all stainless options up to 300 and 17-4PH grade.

Micromech also offers the AquaTRUE™ true planetary gearheads that are watertight and probably the first on the market that are corrosion-resistant as well as watertight.

Kollmorgen AquaTrue

The Kollmorgen range allows for a wide range of applications which combine high performance and wide torque capacity with features specifically designed to meet the strict requirements of applications for food and beverage handling.

The new AC10 from Parker Hannifin is one of the smallest micro drives available

This compact variable frequency AC10 Micro Drive offers straight forward yet adept motor control in everyday applications requiring speed or torque control within the power range of 0.2 to 15 kW. Offering uncompromising performance in an economical yet compact design, typical applications for the AC10 includes conveyors, centrifuges, fans, mixers, packaging machines and textile machines, to name but a few.

They offer extremely compact dimensions and features which are normally only associated with higher specification drives. The AC10 provides an optimised solution for OEM machine builders seeking a cost-effective drive without any compromise in performance. Among the many functional benefits for users there is included an auto-tuning sensorless vector mode which takes these devices beyond simple V/F motor control. This advanced feature allows users requiring greater dynamic speed or torque control for their application benefiting from the drives enhanced 0.5% speed and 5% torque accuracy.

Parker AC10 Micro DriveOther great features include output frequency up to 650 Hz especially good for spindle drives. It supports three-phase 400volt supplies in all five frame sizes and importantly a full 150% overload for 1 minute. Thanks to its ‘conformal coated’ PCBs the AC10 is able to withstand even the most arduous class 3C3 environment which many other drives in this class would struggle to operate. Minimal wiring requirements and two easily accessed terminal rails make AC10 fast and simple to install, getting users up and running in no time at all.

In addition the AC10 is cleverly designed to reduce the time and effort required to install, set-up and commission by the use of its integrated ergonomic operator keypad. Parker AC10 Micro Drive

Featuring as standard a 4 LED drive status indicators, a 4 digit 7 segment LED display and a tactile membrane style keypad. In addition to displaying status and running information, the LED display is also used to access drive configuration parameters which can be quickly and easily changed via the keypad. The keypad can also be used to take local control of the motor to start, stop, increase or decrease motor speed.

The new micro drive also gives users the inherent energy-saving benefits of using a variable frequency drive as well as improved reliability and extended service life benefits associated with smoother starting and stopping of regularly cycling loads.

Parker MR SeriesAn ideal complement to the AC10 is Parker’s MR Series of AC induction motors which are IE2 efficient and start from a power range of 0.09 kW.

Featuring optional axial in-line force ventilation fan and holding brake, the MR motor is a high quality durable AC motor which when matched to the AC10 will provide you with a complete motor/drive package that will deliver optimal performance in your application.

Parker Hannifin is the world’s leading diversified manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems, providing precision-engineered solutions for a wide variety of mobile, industrial and aerospace markets.
