Packaged 80VDC drive is compact, powerful and versatile

The stepper amplifiers WSE 04.80 V01 and WSE 08.80 V01 from Stogra are a micro-stepping bipolar chopper drive for 2-phases stepper motors, giving the maximum power integrated in the smallest housing

The compact metal housing fits into small switch cabinets available as DIN rail or panel mounted versions. Employing the latest FET-technology means extremely low power dissipation, therefore no forced cooling is necessary. All connections are easy by front side screw terminals and spring terminals for all lines and signals There is a wide range of voltage supply from 20 to 80VDC and the phase currents are adjustable from 0,5 to 8A/phase via a 16 stage rotary switch.

Stogra Power AmplifierThere are 16 different step angles between 200 and 12800 steps/rev selectable via DIP switches for optimal, smooth running of the motor. The step angle can be switched between two values via an external input even while the motor is running. The drives have electronic protection against short circuit (motor phases), over temperature (power amplifier) and under voltage. The ‘output ready’ signal is via a relay and input signals (pulse, direction, reset, boost, disable, change step angle) are optionally isolated by opto-couplers.

These packaged drives having 80VDC are highly suited to 23 frame motors to give a great performance. The optimal performance however for any stepper system is best achieved with STÖGRA series SM 56, SM 87, SM 88 and SM 107 motors. Selection of step resolution can be selected via the switches 3 to 6 then via a digital input the step resolution can be switched externally between two values. During motion, switching the step resolution is possible within the motor start-stop-frequency or at any frequency when changing the pulse frequency and step resolution simultaneously.

The Stealth flange-face gearheads eliminate the middleman!

Now offered as a standard option, the flange-face mounting on the PX and RX Stealth gearheads offer a number of advantages:

AParker Stealth llows a customer to directly mount to the gearhead’s rotating shaft

Improves the torsional rigidity of the system which in turn allows for easier tuning of the servo motor and improved dynamic response

Overall envelope size of the assembly is reduced by this type of mounting configuration

The application opportunities for the Stealth range is enormous but of course it’s with stepper and servo motion, where high dynamic and precision control is required, which they excel.

Cost and space saver Glide Screw

What is a Glide Screw? It is a breakthrough innovation from Thomson. They have combined the features of a linear bearing and a lead screw into one compact package. The patent-pending Glide Screw from Thomson presents three tangible benefits: reduced footprint, extended equipment uptime and lower machine cost.

The reduced footprint means fewer components as the integrated lead screw and linear bearing means no additional guidance is needed.

Improved equipment uptime is achieved because the screw and linear bearing are already aligned.

Thomson Glide Screw

Overall this is a low cost solution through the Glide Screw being easy to install in minimal prep time, thus enabling a simpler, faster install process. It also requires minimal maintenance, as there is the integrated ‘Lube-for-Life’ lubrication block.

There are even custom configurations available featuring special nuts, screw diameters and thread leads available to accommodate specific applications.

The Glide Screw was designed to solve the challenge where smaller, cleaner, smoother, and quieter mechanical motion products are required. Numerous applications are an ideal fit for the Glide Screw including: 3D printing and engraving, fluid pipetting for 3-axis lab automation, test tube handling, CD duplication, pick and place, syringe pumps, in vitro diagnostics, medical imaging and many others!

‘Affordable Automation’

Stealth PX ‘mid range’ helical precision planetary gearheads provide higher radial load, increased service life, and ease of mounting so offering in-line power and versatility

The Stealth Gearheads incorporate design enhancements to provide superior performance for the most demanding high performance applications. Utilising ‘dual angular contact bearings’ the gearboxes provide higher radial load capacities while still maintaining high input speeds.

Stealth PX Planetary GearheadsDesign enhancements also include full complement needle bearings allowing for increased service life and extended warranties. Internal design changes and optimised gearing geometry’s allow for one oil fill level for any orientation, resulting in shortened part number designation and simplified order placement. Universal mounting kits provide common mounting kits across multiple product lines to promote quicker deliveries and ease of mounting to any servomotor.

Features

  • High torque, greater than standard planetaries
  • Low backlash, range between 6 and 12 arc min
  • Quietest operation, less than 70db
  • High input speeds, up to 5,000 RPM
  • High efficiency, over 90% efficiency.
  • 12 ratios 3:1 to 100:1

Benefits

  • Higher radial load capacity: widely spaced angular contact output bearings
  • Increased service life: full complement needle planet bearings
  • Universal mounting kits: quicker deliveries and easier mounting
  • High torque and low backlash: helical planetary gearing
  • High stiffness: integral ring gear and rigid sun gear
  • Higher gear wear resistance: plasma nitriding heat treating

High performance at an exceptional value makes Stealth PX the gearhead of choice for today‘s lower cost servo motor applications delivering the best value with the advantages of helical planetary technology.

The principal definition of stealth is the characteristic of ‘moving with extreme care and quietness’, and we think engineers will be delighted at just how faithfully these gearheads meet that description.
